Roman Reigns tops the 2022 PWI 500 for a second time. PWI’s leader is Roman Reigns. Roman Reigns topped Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s annual PWI 500 list in 2022, the publication announced.
Roman came in second place in 2021. Roman has topped the chart at number one twice; the first time was in 2016. Since 2014, Roman has finished in the top seven every year with the exception of 2020, when he came in 14th.
The 2021 PWI 500 was won by Kenny Omega.
This year’s PWI 500 evaluation period runs from July 1, 2021, through June 30, 2022. The following factors are taken into consideration when rating athletes.
win-loss records, technical prowess, impact on the sport, success against the toughest opposition, success against the most varied opposition, and activity.
During the evaluation time frame, Roman stayed the WWE Widespread Boss and added the WWE Title to his assortment by overcoming Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38.
Roman scored wins over Lesnar, John Cena, Goldberg, Matt Riddle, Edge, Finn Balor, and more.

When it comes to ranking wrestlers, the criteria are success in the ring, impact on a particular promotion or the business as a whole, technical prowess, and success against a range of top-notch opponents. A wrestler must have competed in at least ten matches within that time period, or at least six matches in different months, to be eligible. Curiously, the criterion disqualified the aforementioned Lesnar from this year’s rankings.

Since its inception in 1991, the PWI 500 has been ranked, with Hulk Hogan leading the initial list. John Cena has topped the PWI 500 three times, in 2006, 2007, and 2013. He is the individual with the most #1 rankings.
Bianca Belair won the PWI Women’s 150, which was first introduced in 2008 as the Female 50 and afterwards the Women’s 100. The PWI Tag Team 50 made its debut in 2020 and has been won by FTR and the Young Bucks once each in its two years of existence.
For those who are curious, the PWI Women’s 150 for this year will be announced in October, and the PWI Tag Team 100, which has increased from 50 to 100, will be announced in December.
