While the Covid-19 (pandemic) pandemic is still raging around the world, a new virus called tomato flu or tomato fever is spreading in India.

The infection generally influences youngsters younger than five.

So far, 82 children under the age of 5 have been diagnosed in the state of Kerala, where the first case was reported on May 6.

Tomato influenza is an exceptionally infectious viral disease that spreads through close contact, particularly among youngsters younger than five.

Side effects include weakness, restlessness, flushing, running, fever, dryness, joint swelling, body aches, and common influenza-like side effects, as well as tomato-canal rickets

So far, it is not completely clear what causes this disease.

Otherwise called tomato fever, tomato influenza is an uncommon viral contamination that is considered non-hazardous, as per The Lancet.
